Intelligent Conference Room Situational Control Solution

Introduction
In corporate office space, a meeting room is a space for greeting customers or for staff's brainstorming. However, air-conditioning, lights, projectors and other facilities are usually left turned on after meeting, which induce unnecessary waste of power. For an intelligent conference room auto-control system, the Artila's industrial-grade system on module (SoM) is the best core controller product in the intelligent household application.

Artila’s Product & Advantage
Artila's M-502 is an industrial-grade embedded system on module (SoM), which is an application platform adopting an ARM processor and the Linux operating system that is designed for simplifying the complicate design procedures and reducing development risks and cost for equipment manufacturers. M-502 is integrated with powerful computing capability, large RAM size and high expandability, which make it much easier for users to develop their own application programs while keeping the system performance unaffected, continue to function and provide services. The flexible and reliable design enables users to be free of concerns while concentrating on the development of application software and thereby reduce 80% development time and cost.

Features

  • Linux kernel 2.6.29 with file system
  • ATMEL AT91SAM9G20 w/MMU 400MHz Processor
  • 256MB NAND Flash
  • 64MB SDRAM
  • 10/100Mbps Ethernet Port x 1
  • SD card interface: 1 x 32GB max
Description
The embedded system on module is a micro motherboard with built-in CPU, RAM, control units (interruption, power management, system time) and communication interfaces that goes with a customized carrier board for I/O port expansion if required.

It enables system integration developers to easily develop their own function support plates without being constrained by hardware or software related technology.

In such application structure, by placing the M-502 into the company's power distribution board and with the multi-functional GPIO interface of M-502, an intelligent control can be realized after conversation to achieve the function of auto-turning off meeting room facilities to ultimately realize the purpose of energy management such as the turning on/off of projectors, lighting control, electric curtains, intelligent air-conditioning, video systems, etc.

Also, the one-to-many instant monitoring and control function can be integrated for a relational situational control for multiple objects at the same time, for example, during a meeting, the instant data monitoring can be done for the speaker's movement, interior temperature and humidity, light, sound, etc., and the instant control can be done for projector screen up/down, air-conditioning, lights and volume control for telephone conferences.

And by using the most popular webpage interface as the basis for HMI, developers can create the most powerful HMI with the biggest flexibility via the software module provided by Artila, and users are able to use the browser in the mobile phone and tablet PC for a situational auto-management of the meeting room, by which the meeting quality and efficiency can be promoted to further attain the purpose of auto-energy-saving.

Event Report - Artila’s Experience at the IAS 2016

The Industrial Automation Show (IAS) 2016 was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) in China from November 1st through 5th of this year. As the leading designer and manufacturer of embedded device networking and computing, Artila exhibited the related products for the Internet of Things (IoT).

During the IAS exhibition, the IoT was a very a hot topic. Artila showed many IoT applications, including a smart building/ building energy consumption monitoring control systems, fleet management, and more. An experience area was also set up to allow visitors to practically realize what the IoT is, and could be.
